Our History

Established in 1972, Certified Driving School has been providing driver’s education classes to teens and adults throughout Northwest Indiana for over 5 decades. Jerry Mazur, who devoted 39 years to teaching biology, started Certified Driving School with a vision of educating teen drivers about the importance of safe driving. More than 50 years later, Mazur continues to teach a majority of the classes at our Highland office.

Jerry, his partners, and the rest of the friendly staff features over 30 current or retired teachers who are experienced in educating students about respecting the road and driving safely.

We have two locations in Northwest Indiana located in Highland and Crown Point. In addition, Certified Driving’s reputation is well known throughout the region and has allowed us to partner with local schools for summer driver’s education programs. Currently, we’re partnered with Lowell and Griffith High Schools, as well as former programs at Lake Central, Highland, Bishop Noll, and Andrean.

Our Philosophy

New drivers only get one chance to learn how to drive safely, and being a new driver comes with great responsibility. The instructors at Certified Driving School are committed to teaching our students to be the safest drivers on the road. Our licensed instructors guarantee our students will receive the most up-to-date techniques, information, and safe-driving standards.
